| Quality & Risk Program Manager 70289 Overview: East Morgan County Hospital (EMCH) in Brush, Colorado, is a critical access facility providing a full array of health care services. The hospital features a Level IV Trauma Center; an attached physicians’ and general surgeons’ clinics, Brush Family Medicine; a visiting specialists’ clinic; and the Alonzo Petteys Rehabilitation Center, which offers a complete range of rehab services including a warm-water therapy pool. EMCH has completed three phases of a four-phase remodel project, with the last phase, the surgery suite, scheduled to begin in early 2010. Previous phases included remodeling the emergency room, and nurses’ station, expanding laboratory and medical imaging departments, the addition of the Brush Family Medicine clinic, relocation of the Physician Specialty Clinic, and remodeling of the admissions area, hospital lobby and gift shop. Other recent projects included adding an out-patient surgical suite for the general surgeons and expanding the pharmacy, as well as updating the chapel. Responsibilities: This position provides for effective operation of Quality and Risk Mgmt Services for the business or facility. This position manages significant clinical event investigations, peer review, decision support, coordination of regulatory and accreditation compliance and surveys (JCAHO, DHS, CMS, HSAG), patient safety process improvement, infection control and all other required quality related activities. Identifies and investigates potential compensable events and provides litigation management. All work processed by the incumbent is considered confidential and protected from discovery, pursuant to applicable state law.
Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess a strong knowledge of business, patient safety/quality management and/or risk management as normally obtained through the completion of a bachelor’s degree in a healthcare or business related field. Must have a proficiency level typically attained with 5 years experience in risk management or patient safety/quality management. Must possess demonstrated flexibility in responding to the needs of multiple constituencies with a service-oriented philosophy. Demonstrated ability to lead and facilitate interdisciplinary teams. Must also possess demonstrated skill in problem analysis, project management, conflict resolution and oral/written presentation. Requires ability to balance and manage multiple projects.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in a healthcare or business related field is preferred. At least 2 years management experience is also preferred. Experience with Med Exec functions including credentialing, contracts and oversights is desired. Certification in Quality and/or Risk Management.
