Survey, I-man, Instrument Tech, Instrument Technician,



The basic function of the survey instrument operator is to assist the survey crew chief (Party Chief) in the completion of various types of field operations including boundary survey, location surveys, topographic surveys, GPS surveys, route location surveys, construction staking, and other types of surveys as required by the company.
  • Responsible for daily maintenance and operation of field equipment to include electronic total stations, GPS receivers, levels, data collectors, and other field survey instruments in the collection of field data.
  • Responsible for proper use of survey data collection codes and input which will assist and enhance CADD operations.
  • Maintain assigned vehicles and equipment by ensuring cleanliness and by promptly reporting problems.
  • Receive and understand written and verbal instructions and follow directions.
  • Required to have some proficiency in mathematics including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Responsible for developing ability to read and interpret maps, deeds, and construction documents.
