Job Description: Physician II The staff physician is responsible for providing individuals who reside at San Angelo State School, according to agency guidelines and acceptable medical practice, a high level of medical care consistent with resources available locally and at San Angelo State School. Additionally, the staff physician may provide minor emergency care and stabilization of major emergencies involving employees. |

Essential Job Functions: 1) Provide medical care for clients, including admission histories and physicals and annual history updates and physical examinations. 2) Update immunizations, order vaccinations as needed. 3) Provide preventive medicine services for residents. 4) Make rounds on the client homes on a regular basis. 5) Order and interpret laboratory tests and imaging studies for clients. 6) Create and maintain medical records for residents. 7) Be available on-call after hours for client medical problems on a rotating, but regular basis. 8) Provide consultation for staff advanced practice nurse. 9) Provide medical care for injured employees. |

Knowledge Skills Abilities: Knowledge of medical conditions and methods of treatment in the field of family medicine or internal medicine. Knowledge of basics in office gynecology. Knowledge and experience in minor emergency care, including minor acute wound care and minor office orthopedics. Ability to use personal computers for word processing and communication, including familiarity with Windows operating systems, Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Internet Explorer. Ability to work in a team setting and function as a team leader by utilizing the skills of others, such as nurses, therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, medical specialists, and direct care staff. Skills in interpersonal relations and conflict resolution. |

Registration or Licensure Requirements: License to practice medicine in the State of Texas . Completion of residency training and eligible for board certification, or, Completion of residency training and board certification in a specialty recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties. |

Initial Selection Criteria: Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Texas , plus 3 additional years of medical practice, or, successful completion of an approved residency training program with certification in a specialty recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties. |
