SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Program Manager and Medical Director
provides high quality nursing care to the clients being treated at the
facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES All CAB employees are expected to
be familiar and comply with the agency's policies and procedures which
are presented in the employee handbook. CAB places a high value on its
stated principles of positive customer/consumer relations. Full
compliance with federal regulations regarding client confidentiality is
critical to CAB operating principles. The essential duties and
responsibilities of the position include the following.
1. Responsible and accountable for the quality of nursing care
delivered, and establishes/oversees medication administration protocol.
2. Monitors the biomedical status and conditions of all clients admitted into the facility.
3. Participates in referring clients to appropriate medical or dental
services and ensures necessary aftercare linkages and appointments for
ongoing medical care needs.
3. Delivers full report on each patient each day including patient status or change.
4. Monitors patients' compliance with medication and documents in client record as appropriate
5. Provides instruction and training to staff as is ordered/directed/necessary.
6. Administers TB test results and documents results.
7. Communicates with immediate supervisor regarding client needs,
changes in status, and all emergencies regarding medical or psychiatric
condition.
8. Complies with CAB Personnel Policies and Procedures and with policies and procedures specific to the facility.
9. Additional related duties as directed by management..
The following is used only in Boston and Danvers Detoxes, when the
staff nurse is assigned to be UR. The following duties are included:
1. Reviews all admissions within one working day from the time of
admission to determine the medical necessity of the admission.
2. Certifies all admissions with insurer when necessary.
3. Reviews all cases, regardless of source of payment, on a schedules basis.
4. In consultation with the case manager, initiates patient service delivery and discharge planning.
5. On a regularly scheduled basis, reviews all records for compliance with utilization review guidelines.
6. Works closely with payers and serves as a liaison between payers and service site and payers and clients.
7. Works closely with billing department for retrospective reviews, appeals, etc.
8. Works in conjunction with Director regarding lengths of stay, clinical protocols, etc.
9. Performs scheduled audits of medical records.
10. Ensures that discharge plan meets UR critieria.
11. Manages patient satisfaction process and all outcomes processes.
12. Tracks, manages, and reports referrals.
13. Serves as liaison between service facility and referred services at discharge.
14. Additional duties as may be required/directed by the Nurse Manager.
Full time 3rd shift position and per-diem available.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Valid and current Massachusetts licensure as a Registered Nurse or a Licensed Pratical Nurse.
