Key to Sutter's business plan, the role of Sutter Health Information Technology is to make electronic data and communications available to Sutter Health employees, providers and patients to support the health and well-being of the community, enhance patient care and safety, and improve business processes and performance. Information Technology's (IT) key approaches to meet these needs consists of the Applications, Telecommunications, Project Management, Web, and Technology. We continue to review IT optimization across our affiliates, regions and entire enterprise.
The IT Site Leader functions as the Single Point-of-Accountability for the satisfactory delivery of all IS solutions and services, whether sourced from SH-IS or the region, to and on behalf of an assigned Affiliate. Typically, an Affiliate is an acute (hospital) or ambulatory (physician practice) business unit/facility; however, as determined by size, complexity, and operational integration, an Affiliate may constitute a set of related units/facilities in geographic proximity, even assembled as an integrated healthcare campus. At the direction of the Regional IT Director-Acute/Ambulatory, this position provides the leadership direction needed for the planning and implementation of new information solutions and technologies (including EHR) and their integration with other Sutter Health information technologies, resulting in efficient and cost-effective local and system-wide solutions. The IT Site Leader will provide oversight of all IS functional activities occurring at or on behalf of the Affiliate which include, but may not be limited to:
Education: Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, or Management and related experience in ambulatory/acute healthcare, financial and/or business system management. An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to provide knowledge of and experience with physician practice management, managed care, project management (solution implementation), technical operations and infrastructure, information technology planning, business requirements, solution design, claims processing, and clinical decision support will be considered. Experience/Knowledge: Significant experience in healthcare information processing, strong understanding and experience in application solutions and services supporting healthcare administrative and clinical functions for managed care, physician practice management, hospital/ER/urgent care/surgicenter operations, and clinical decision support. Must have sustained experience with physicians and their physician leaders in their evaluation, implementation, and adoption of IS solutions. Comprehensive experience with mid-range computing and client/server applications to include data communication, network design; software application implementation and support; hardware platform evaluation, selection, and procurement; user support planning and customer service agreements; computer operations disaster recovery, business continuity, capacity planning, facilities management, and day-to-day support and maintenance. Experience in systems integration, online transaction processing, electronic data interchange within a healthcare environment; strategic planning and implementation of technologies and solutions for healthcare settings, particularly physician practice environments. Significant experience in managing all personnel aspects of a technical and administrative staff in information technology setting, including goal setting, performance monitoring, demonstrated team leadership, team-building, and creativity; and ability to effectively communicate between technical staff, line management, executive leaders, and physicians. Special Skills: Must have leadership level vision of business and IS within a healthcare setting, demonstrate excellent written and verbal communications skills. Requires vendor relationship development, vendor support and security planning and well-developed project management expertise. Must have experience in negotiation techniques. Skill in problem resolution and meeting target milestones, timeframes is required. Must have current and comprehensive managed care and physician work environment knowledge; an in-depth understanding of clinical applications and related workflows; and experience with client/server and web-enabled technology implementation and management.
