Director of Nursing Research and Evidence Based Practice Program

VCU Health System is currently recruiting for a Director of the Nursing Research and Evidence Based Practice Program. This position will manage the Office of Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice; will facilitate strategic initiatives related to nursing research and evidence based practice and provide expert consultation in evidence-based practice and research.

This position will report directly to the Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer, VCU Hospitals and Clinics and will be considered for an appointment to the VCU School of Nursing.

Job Qualifications include:

Education/training REQUIRED:

  • PhD in nursing or an affiliated field. Masters degree in nursing required, if PhD degree is not in nursing.
  • Education and training sufficient for eligibility for faculty appointment in the VCU School of Nursing

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:

  • Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible

Level and type of experience REQUIRED

  • 5 years of experience in nursing practice, education or research
  • Experience conducting clinically based research, disseminating findings through publication and presentation, and applying findings in a practice
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in effective leadership and mentoring staff nures to do research
  • Experience in initiating and managing interdisciplinary teams
  • Experience in managing complex tasks within an organizational structure
  • Experience in using effective interpersonal and communication skills across a range of educational and cultural backgrounds
  • Experience in identifying and using a range of research-related resources including relevant computer applications
