Construction Specialist
SOUTHERN DIVISION / ATLANTA REGION CONSTRUCTION Position Summary: Coordinate and inspect contractor activity on construction, joint trench, and within the system. Interface with design and commercial development personnel. Ensure that projects are completed on schedule, within budget and according to Comcast specifications/customer satisfaction. Secure permits from utilities and appropriate regulatory agencies and assure that all projects meet or exceed minimum specifications as dictated, but not limited to: Comcast Construction Policy, FCC Technical Standards, NEC, OSHA, State, County and/or City, and all other applicable agencies. Review bids for capital projects and make recommendations to management on the submitted project management plan. Utilize Comcast network databases for tracking new build addressing input. Perform construction functions as follows: • Review, track, and validate contractor invoicing. • Assure compliance by all system contractors with Comcast procedures and specifications. • Track and maintain any information needed to monitor contractor productivity. • Keep system leadership informed on all project progress. • Support system construction functions. • Assist with reports on capital projects and construction progress. • Compile, track, and enter all new build addressing into the Job Tracking database. • Meet with design and commercial development personnel to relay assigned work and required materials. • Review maps and plans necessary to secure permits from utilities, DOT, railroads, and appropriate local, state and federal agencies. • Make field survey audits in a well-organized and timely manner to complete permit application. • Review customer requests and resolve complaints. . • Perform field checks and serviceability inquiries. • Utilize computer programs (Excel, Access, and Word) to track project status. • Prepare and track all make-ready applications for power, telephone, highway and public property plant rearrangement work. Required Skills: Minimum of 5 years CATV experience. Knowledge of CATV distribution systems and prints. Knowledge of CATV construction practices - NESC codes, Aerial and Underground Coax and Fiber installation.
