Program Specialist: Eastern MO Dept of Mental Health

PROGRAM SPECIALIST II

Seeking individual with good knowledge of mental health systems to function as a Community Mental Health Center Specialist with the MO Department of Mental Health. Responsible position requiring solid interpersonal communication skills, writing, computer use, organization, decision making, judgment and creativity. Duties include conducting mental health treatment reviews following adverse events, certification surveys and quality assurance activities, and involvement in committees and new initiatives.

Primary work is independent with occasional teamwork. St. Louis based office involves mostly day travel when out of the office, approximately one to two days/week. The right hire will develop into an expert in evidence-based practices. Competitive salary with generous state benefits.

Qualifications:

A Master's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 15 earned credit hours in one or a combination of the following: Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Counseling, Nursing, Education, Business, Public or Health Care Administration, Criminal Justice, Biology, Chemistry, or a closely related field; and,

Three or more years of professional experience in mental health, public health, environmental health, education, social services, adult corrections, probation and parole, public administration, or a closely related area, including a minimum of two years in treatment, case management, abuse/neglect investigation, or preventive services for persons with mental illness, mental retardation, developmental disabilities; or substance abusers, inmate offenders, or related professional experience that primarily involved programs or services for these populations and afforded a knowledge of their special needs.
