Job Profile:
The Associate Director, Corporate Development plays a crucial role in managing internal and external initiatives of core importance to XDx’s strategic development. This person will head or play a key stakeholder role in the business development, strategic planning, and new project evaluation functional areas, in addition to other miscellaneous strategic efforts. This job requires the ability to manage relationships with board and management-level stakeholders to advance such initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities are as follows, but not necessarily limited to:
- Identify targets for strategic and licensing opportunities with academic partners, platform technology companies, biopharmaceutical companies, diagnostic companies, and laboratory partners
- Lead or play a central role on XDx engagement teams initiating discussions with potential partners, negotiating agreements, and closing deals
- Participate in XDx new project and portfolio evaluation efforts
- Lead assessment and execution of in-licensing of intellectual property
- Manage execution of signed business development agreements, including ensuring that milestones and other material obligations are achieved
- Establish and maintain business intelligence support structures and tools
Other Responsibilities are as follows, but not necessarily limited to:
- At the direction of the XDx managment, engage in other corporate development activities (e.g. corporate finance, strategic alliance initiatives, strategic and business planning, geographic expansion and market entry, product-market strategy and new product definition)
- Contribute to XDx intellectual property strategy
- Represent XDx at industry events and relevant clinical and scientific conferences
- Provide corporate development support to other XDx external points of interface (e.g. new technology evaluation, clinical study collaborations)
- Provide an interface between XDx corporate development and financial planning groups
Qualifications:
- An advanced degree (e.g. M.S., M.B.A.) in either a business or life science discipline
- Three or more years of experience managing business or corporate development, strategic planning, market development, or other equivalent functional area at a life sciences company
- Proven ability to lead teams, including those composed of management-level stakeholders
- Strong track record of successful project completion and demonstrated excellence in business development, strategic planning and/or project evaluation
- Ability to work independently and to achieve articulated goals
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, culminating in a polished and professional presence
- Sound and tested business judgment combined with impeccable integrity
- Experience in an emerging company setting is a plus
- Previous investment banking or consulting experience is a plus
- Highly competent with the use of typical productivity software (e.g. Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint)
