Job Description: The Animal Surgery Supervisor under the direction of the Assistant Director, Medical and Surgical Services of the Comparative Research Center (CRC) will assist in and coordinate all facets of the daily operations of the CRC Surgery area.
Responsibilities:
Assist CRC Assistant Director of Medical and Surgical Services in preparing the surgery area's aspect of the departmental budget.
Coordinate surgical and medical services billing and entering of data into billing database.
Assist in the development of general administrative policies and procedures as they relate to daily surgery operations and provide input to the CRC Assistant Director of Medical and Surgical Services.
Monitor the CRC surgery equipment and supplies and use of said supplies and services.
Act as a direct liaison to research principal investigators and technicians as it relates to CRC surgery operations.
Act as a direct liaison to other departments within the institution that have contact with the CRC surgery.
Directing the daily activities of the Veterinary Technicians.
Managing the health surveillance program for the CRC.
Ensuring CRC surgery compliance with all applicable regulations and policies governing the use of animals including IACUC protocols.
Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years continuous experience with an AAALAC-International accredited laboratory animal care and use program. LATG certification by AALAS. Must have knowledge of animal husbandry and care procedures. Knowledge of regulatory requirements and animal program issues. Familiarity with IACUC functions highly desirable.
