We are looking for a Bookkeeper.

This is the level of a full charge Bookkeeper. The Community Bookkeeper is a business professional who helps maintain the financial records and transactions for a multi-million dollar apartment community by performing a variety of routine calculating, posting, and clerical work in accounting and financial operations. The Bookkeeper receives and disburses currency and checks, prepares deposit and bank transactions, reconciles cash funds, and prepares tabulations to account for transactions. The Bookkeeper also applies knowledge of basic double-entry bookkeeping and office machines used in accounting.

As with all our positions, a Bookkeeper is a customer service professional. The Bookkeeper takes a lead role for all property collections must be able to address the concerns of our residents in a friendly and professional manner. A Bookkeeper must have excellent verbal and written communication abilities, organizational and follow-up skills, and attention to detail necessary for meeting collection goals.

Are you the right person for the Job?
The ideal Bookkeeper may not necessarily come from a property management background. However, the right candidate should have 1-3 years of experience in bookkeeping and/or collections.

  • A Bookkeeper must take a leadership role with rent collection, especially with delinquent residents. This may involve lease termination and legal action if necessary.
  • Great computer skills are needed! A Community Bookkeeper uses a variety of programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer, as well as our proprietary property management software.
  • A good financial and administrative background is a must. The Bookkeeper must have a strong budgetary understanding of the community and be able to verify financial data against ledger accounts.
  • In property management, evenings and weekends are par for the course. The ideal candidate needs schedule flexibility to accommodate a 7 day workweek.
  • Multi-tasking and adaptation are key elements to success! The Bookkeeper must efficiently handle a changing environment and be capable of dealing with multiple people and various situations simultaneously.
