Electro-Mechanical Product & Design Engineer
$80-95K
No relocation reimbursement.
Hours: 8:30 am 5:00 pm; additional hours as necessary
Position Summary:
The Sr Product Dev Eng will provide team leadership in the engineering design and development of new and modified products from concept to group and sales & marketing, production, quality, purchasing and customer support. Skills require both electrical and mechanical design and the product commercialization process requires an understanding of business & marketing.
Essential Functions:
Perform electrical and mechanical engineering design tasks related to established new product objectives. Assist in compiling customer requirements, product specifications, product concept, development and assessment. Participate in new product commercialization. Create technical documentation such as drawings, O&M Manuals, installation instructions, work instructions and product catalogs. Product testing. Conduct the testing required to verify product performance and compliance with applicable standards. Manufacturing support. Work with Production, Quality and Purchasing staff to assure product manufacturability and achieve quality and cost objectives. Problem solving in support of continuous improvement and customer service goals. Provide leadership to other engineers and support personnel assigned to Product Engineering. Assign and distribute tasks, assure timely completion. Achieve long term product development goals as determined by, or in collaboration with the VP-Engineering or Executive Team.
Additional Duties:
Jobsite support, as needed Collaboration with certification laboratories such as UL, CSA and Intertek (ETL) as well as various international agencies. Participate in Team-based initiatives within company
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proven track record of product design and development Strong understanding of product development cycle Knowledge of Lean and/or Six Sigma principles Ability to provide leadership to other technical personnel Solid organizational and communication skills Solid interpersonal skills
Minimum Qualifications:
BS Electrical Engineering. Advanced degree or additional technical certifications preferred. 10+ years experience in the electro-mechanical engineering field Leadership experience such as Project Manager, Team Leader, or similar. Familiarity with low voltage power distribution equipment Proficiency in Autocad Inventor or other 3D CAD system, Microsoft Office, and related skills in technical writing and communication Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required up to 10% of the time Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where, under certain areas, the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection are required.
Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time Able to lift and carry up to 25lbs
