| | |  |  | Technical Supervisor Anchorage, AK Job Description : POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Manager, the Supervisor is responsible for management of the department in accordance with the general laboratory policies. S/he is responsible for scheduling, evaluating, coordinating and reviewing work performed by the department, assuring that the work is performed in an accurate and timely manner such that the patient, physician, and other medical professionals can receive the highest quality service. Strives to maintain the department in the most cost effective and efficient way. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: - Provide leadership and work daily with the staff to accomplish the work; pursue problems that arise and formulate corrective measures with the help of the manager.
- Help to develop new policies/ procedures and assist in their implementation.
- Responsible for supply ordering, inventory control and maintaining the department in a cost effective manner.
- Assist in the preparation of inspections and compliance.
- Assist in making recommendations for hiring, disciplinary and termination decisions in conjunction with the Manager and the Human Resources Manager/ Employment Specialist.
- Make schedules and adjust the coverage for absences.
- Perform all other duties consistent with his/ her training, follow and enforce all laboratory policies, and perform all lab duties when needed.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment at all times. Attend all safety training classes and conform to company safety guidelines and requirements.
- Conform to established and new procedures and policies instituted by the company.
- Remain flexible with regards to work schedule as staffing requirements dictate.
Job Requirements : REQUIREMENTS: Medical Technologist, Medical Lab Technician degree or equivalent and appropriate ASCP certification required. Previous supervisory experience, preferably in a clinical laboratory setting, highly recommended. Must demonstrate good administrative, supervisor and organizational skills and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to perform effectively under a high degree of pressure and stress due to workload and demanding time limits. Should be able to adapt well to changes or variations in procedures, workload and schedules. |
