Morningstar seeks a Business Development Consultant to sell Morningstar Office and other productivity solutions to financial advisors. This position may be based in Minneapolis, St. Louis, Overland Park, Indianapolis, Louisville, Columbus, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Grand Rapids, or Detroit and will require approximately 50% travel time.

As a Business Development Consultant, you must generate revenue for Morningstar Office and other related products by effectively managing a sales territory. You will develop and maintain client relationships by assessing a client’s needs and assembling creative solutions from Morningstar’s product offerings using a consultative approach.

The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic, intelligent individual with thorough knowledge and understanding of solution-based sales. We’re looking for someone with excellent listening, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. Two or more years of field or phone sales experience with proven success in growing sales is required; one or two years of direct exposure to the financial marketplace is desirable. It is essential that this person quickly develop a thorough understanding of our products and internal sales support system. You must be self-motivated and possess superior time-management abilities to succeed in this fast-paced environment. Strong analytical skills and comfort with technology and software are needed. A bachelor’s degree is required.
