Logistics Lead

Liquid Container L.P. is a leading manufacturer of custom and stock plastic containers and we have an opportunity for a Logistics Lead in our Hammond, LA facility. This position is for the 12 hour night shift schedule working every other weekend.

Duties of the Logistics Lead include assisting the Production shift Supervisor by directing lift truck operators in daily activities of shipping, receiving, inventory control, and equipment maintenance. In addition, provide instruction to customer drivers on safe placement of trailers to dock assignments.

Additional duties include, but are not limited to:

• Provide ideas and suggestions to improve warehouse operations and the safety of the working environment.

• Ensure that employees follow established safety procedures for loading and unloading trailers, battery changes and maintenance and other uses of lift truck equipment.

• Ensure that employees follow established safety procedures are properly secured by dock lock devices, are free of safety hazards, holes on the floor, ceiling or walls, wet floors or any evidence of lift truck equipment.

• Responsible for lift truck safety and operation training, and making sure all employees are utilizing working equipment properly.

• Review with Shift Supervisor shipping schedules to make sure all shipments are done in a timely and sequential manner.

The ideal candidate should possess:

• A minimum of a one year certificate from college or technical school or six months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Skill in oral/interpersonal communications, pleasant and polite to all co-workers and supervision.

• Ability and desire to willingly learn and help whomever, whenever and wherever assistance is needed.

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

• Effective written and oral communication skills.

• Ability to complete and maintain a certified lift truck operator license.
