EDUCATOR, DIABETES (CASUAL)

Job Description

Position Profile
Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient/family education in the clinical inpatient areas based on ADA Standards of care. Provides leadership in the promotion of patient education programs for the clinical inpatient areas at specific Scripps Healthcare hospitals. Plans and provides/coordinates nursing education on diabetes care based on needs assessments. Maintains current knowledge of diabetic trends and incorporates into practice.

California RN License, BSN degree required.


Two years med-surg experience or equivalent.

CDE or After completion of 1000 hours and two years in direct diabetes education, will obtain National Education Certification (CDE).
Must complete a minimum of 12 hours of CE every two years in diabetes, educational principles and behavioral strategies.

Current BLS-American Heart Association required by start date.


One year experience teaching inpatient programs preferred.

Experience coordinating staff education programs preferred. Excellent communication, problem solving and planning skills.

Masters degree is preferred.
