| Overview: Responsible for all technical Distribution operations including: • Operation design and training • Material handling systems design and installation • Warehouse Management/Controls System testing • Operational performance and cost measurement • Distribution Center resource planning • Operational cost justification
Responsibilities: Essential Functions: • Coordinate with DC management and associates in designing, implementing and maintaining the appropriate operations to support the business requirements for the facility's product. • Focus on optimizing the utilization of the people, automation and the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to maximize DC performance and quality of service while minimizing operating costs. • Continuously anticipate, monitor and evaluate the affect of changing business conditions on the performance of the material handling systems and supporting WMS. • Assist in the development, installation, and testing of related technology, i.e. material handling and related information systems, required to support the operations. • Develop the required testing and training programs for newly implemented systems. • Implement and maintain productivity tracking, labor scheduling, and cost report program. • Work with DC management on monitoring adherence to budget. • Develop, coach and train associates how to operate in a mode of "continuous improvement". • Coordinate with DC General Manager and other departments to predict and improve product flow. Develop the appropriate Distribution Resource Planning (DRP) program that reflects an accurate flow of product and optimized loading of resources to the weekly and daily level. • Assist in the development of cost justifications, business cases and PSO's to obtain senior management approval of investments.
Qualifications: Experience & Training Required • Working knowledge of automated material handling systems, computerized system controls / applications and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS). • Minimum of 3-5 years engineering experience in distribution required • Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering. Masters degree a plus. • Working knowledge of forecasting and resource planning techniques required. • Strong consultive, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills a must. • Professional society membership/certifications are preferred i.e. IIE, APICS, CLM, MHS • Working knowledge of Microsoft: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Access required.
