Medical Billing Clerk - Las Vegas, NV

Position Description:
Under minimal supervision responsible for the daily medical billing, accounts receivable and follow-up for Southwest Medical Associates and Pacific Anesthesia Consultants. Applies some advanced skills to the position within assigned functional area. May adapt procedures, processes and techniques to meet the more complex requirements of the position.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Prepare and edit medical claims for submission, both hardcopy and electronically, to various third party payors and clearinghouses
- Batch and deposit preparation of daily payments received
- Post payments and contractual adjustment to the patient accounts in the IDX practice management system
- Review and process the daily correspondence to correct or update inquiries from insurance carriers
- Follow-up and collect outstanding aged trial balance reports, including but not limited to oral and written communications
- Assist in other job functions within the assigned team
- Resolve most questions and problems, and refers only the most complex issues to higher levels

Qualifications
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED is required
- 2 + years CPT and ICD-9 coding required
- Type at least 45 WPM and alphanumeric data entry proficient
- MS/Office (Word, Excel & Outlook) is required
- Good oral and written communication skills required
- 3 + years experience working in a physician's office or healthcare billing is required
- Medicare and/ or Medicare experience is preferred
