POSITION DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Commercial Credit Analyst
REPORTS TO: Credit Analyst and Special Assets Supervisor
LOCATION: Main Bank, Topeka , KS
FUNCTION: Conducts credit investigations and analyzes credit information pertaining to loans; prepares new loan reports for presentation to loan officers or committees; furnishes information in relation to credit inquiries; provides assistance to loan officers as requested
HOURS: Available 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and other hours as needed.
CLASSIFICATION: Full-time, non-exempt

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develops credit information for use by lending officers or committees in the making of lending decisions on new, renewal and extension loans.
- Investigates all available sources of credit and financial information, including reporting services, credit bureaus and other references.
- Analyzes financial statements and related materials.
- Prepares summary, presents facts and occasionally offers opinions concerning credit-worthiness.
- Provides credit information and references for customers, loan officers and other agencies as requested.
- Ensures that all credit files are kept current with latest financial statements, insurance policies reports, etc.
- Contacts all available sources for information.
- Assembles all pertinent information and reports
- Participates with loan officers on larger loans, and keeps informed as to the status of loans in the department.
- Comply with the bank’s lending policies.
- Stay current on industrial, commercial, and financial situations relating to customers.
- Maintain knowledge on all required software.
- Compile financial spreadsheets for existing commercial loan customers and new loan applications.
- Maintain and utilize the D & B software to provide the officers with D & B reports on existing bank customers and prospective customers as requested.
- Conduct all actions consistent with quality customer service, friendliness, and the overall mission of the bank.
- Achieve and maintain general knowledge of all aspects of the bank and our services in order to cross sell products and answer customer questions.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Well developed credit analysis and analytical skills
- Basic knowledge of credit administration, policy and procedures
- Good knowledge of economics, accounting and finance
- Basic knowledge of risk analysis
- Effective technical report writing skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Good time management skills; must be able to handle multiple projects and tasks and follow through in a timely manner.

- Strong working knowledge of PC’s
- Intermediate Microsoft Word and Excel skills
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in business with an emphasis in accounting or finance or a minimum of 3-5 years of credit analysis experience required.
EXPERIENCE: Five years of credit experience in the banking profession strongly preferred.
