Transporter: DeKalb Medical

Responsibilities:

• Provides safe transportation of patients to and from patient care areas. (May include, but not limited to, transport of patients from ED to inpatient bed, transport of discharged patients to pick-up areas, transport of direct admits from lobby to inpatient unit, transport of patients to and from procedures.)
• Ensures safe transfer of patients from bed, chair, treatment table, and/or any other surface area.
• Maintains transportation equipment in a clean, orderly manner following Infection Control standards established by the hospital.
• Responsible for pick-up, delivery and return of items which are essential for delivery of patient care.
• Provides directions to DeKalb Medical Center customers.
• Rounds on patient care units and returns discontinued equipment to Central Supply.
• Responsible for collecting unused beds/stretchers/wheelchairs and returning to appropriate areas.
• Delivers specimens to the Lab, as requested.
• Projects positive image by responding to request for supplies in friendly and receptive manner.
• Organizes time efficiently and effectively.
• Age of patients that may be served:

A High school graduate or GED is required.
Additional required qualifications include a professional appearance and demeanor.
