Position Description
Develop (for low volume products) or Co-develop (high volume products) and implement commercial marketing strategy and tactics for product(s) of responsibility, to include: Value proposition, customer segments, product lifecycle plan, optimal pricing strategy, messaging, creation of sales tools, development of key opinion leaders and reference sites, and sales training/support; Maintenance of ongoing competitive intelligence reports and creation associated sales tools on a regular basis; Responsible for the development and ongoing update of forecasts; Product launch strategy and execution.
Participate in or own product development strategy for product(s) of responsibility, to include: understanding of unmet customer need and market opportunities for development, and make clear, analytically-based recommendations to Technical Product Management, Engineering, and other associated internal teams to facilitate the wisest use of development resources. Interact regularly with other company divisions to ensure the strongest possible McKesson offering and customer value proposition.
Work with sales and all customer departments including documentation, training, implementation, help desk, upgrades, and service to ensure available and timely resources and excellent customer support for existing and new products and releases.
Deliver both internal and external presentations on current status and future strategies for the product.
Have strong analytical abilities and a solid understanding of the P&L to develop strategies and programs to drive increases in revenue and profits.
Spend time in the field with customers on a monthly basis, both to assist with ongoing commercial activity and to learn from them.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or related Discipline. Master's Degree in marketing or business administration preferred. 5+ years of marketing or product management experience in the healthcare or related industry. Proficiency on personal computers specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Visio Flow Diagrams, etc. Ability to travel 20%-30% of work schedule on a national basis.
Comprehensive knowledge of product management, capital equipment budgetary and sales processes, software and the implementation of technical systems, marketing and sales practices and procedures and awareness of the factors that impact the U.S. healthcare industry. Experience in the definition, development, and launch of new products.
Strong communication and leadership skills essential to delivering results in a multi-company, multi-product environment. Strong understanding of business models for the company in determining and delivering products and releases with high impact to revenue and income goals. Solid understanding of hospital pharmacy operations.
