The CN also coordinates/directs care delivered by the interdisciplinary team. The CN is accountable for compliance with the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, applicable regulatory standards, and institutional policies and procedures. The CN provides physical, emotional and spiritual support that directly/indirectly impacts the patient outcomes and care provided to patients/ families/ significant others. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduation from accredited school of nursing Licensure: Valid Ohio Registered Nurse License Certification: Current CPR certification Experience: none required Skills/Other: none required The Refresher Program is a program which may last up to 12 weeks, intended for nurses who have been away from the bedside at least 5 years but no longer than 15 years, and who have had at lest 3 years experience in the hospital, acute care setting. Our refreshers are actually hired by the hospital and paid an RN salary with full benefits during the program. During the program, the refresher is "paired" with a preceptor RN. Upon completion of the program we hope our refreshers take a permanent full or part-time position. We require all refresher candidates to successfully complete selected on-line education modules through Sinclair Community College- Center for Nursing Continuing Education. Successful completion of each module includes payment and a passing score of 75%. Proof of successful completion is required to participate in the Refresher Program. In addition, all refresher candidates are required to participate in a pre-hire job observation for 8-16 hours (one 12 hour or one or two 8 hours shifts). This is not a paid experience, however we feel it is essential for the returning nurses to understand the changes and expectations of the role prior to making a commitment. The Refresher Program focuses primarily in the Med/Surg units where we have open positions. That certainly does not mean you could not pursue any available positions without participating in the Refresher Program, but that would be a decision for the unit manager to hire someone who has been away from acute care for awhile. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
