Manager Volunteer / Bereavement
Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in behavior science or related field required. Previous volunteer administration and supervision experience required (usually three [3]+ years). Demonstrated ability to manage a diverse group. Demonstrated counseling skills and excellent interpersonal communication skills required. Knowledge of JCAHO standards, Hospice Medicare regulations, National Hospice Organization standards and federal, state, and local requirements. Previous experience in community liaison and volunteering. Must be able to work in a Labor Management Partnership environment. Consistently demonstrates the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to each other, to our members, and to customers, contracted providers, and vendors.
Preferred Qualifications: Social work or Chaplain license preferred. Spiritual or Counseling Degree. Experience in Hospice, Bereavement, and spiritual counseling. Experience in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Duties: In conjunction with KFH and TPMG leaders, managers, and supervisors, develops CSA continuing care volunteer strategies, goals, and objectives. Plans, implements, supervises and coordinates the bereavement support groups and programs. Coordinates a bereavement follow up program which meets the needs of a diverse populations, representing unique cultural, ethnic, religious and different lifestyles. Identifies new opportunities for volunteer assistance and negotiates the expanded continuing care volunteer roles throughout the CSA. Coordinates, trains, provides on going education, and oversees bereavement assessments/follow up by patient care staff and volunteers. Works with the community to develop and expand volunteer programs (e.g., pastoral care and hospice programs) which benefit both the community and Kaiser Permanente. Recruits and manages volunteers. Ensures staff and volunteers provide consistent and high quality volunteer programs and develops training programs for volunteers which meet or exceed regulatory requirements. Ensures the staff is in compliance with federal, state, and local requirements and does not perform any bargaining unit work. Develops and implements training programs that address the various types of issues managed by volunteers for hospice and home health patients. Identifies when members should receive an additional volunteer service or member should speak with a social worker. Consistently supports compliance and the Principles of Responsibility (Kaiser Permanente's Code of Conduct) by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non compliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licenser requirements (if applicable), and Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures. In addition to defined technical requirements, accountable for consistently demonstrating service behaviors and principles defined by the Kaiser Permanente Service Quality Credo, the KP Mission as well as specific departmental/organizational initiatives. Also accountable for consistently demonstrating the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to each other, to our members, and to purchasers, contracted providers and vendors.
