Summary: This position is fully responsible for organizing and coordinating all shift activities to assure product quality, maximize people and machine productivity and optimize shift (team) capability and effectiveness. The supervisor is expected to develop and lead employees to seek excellence and to accept ownership of their responsibilities. Essential Functions: - Communicates with employees at start of shift to establish work priorities; maintain good working relationships and to meet production goals. - Adheres to machine priorities, operational sequences and related production issues in order to meet customer requirements. - Reviews all production documentation at start of shift to resolve any discrepancies, irregularities, safety issues or other concerns with departing shift leader before accepting responsibility for shift. - Keeps others fully informed of shift activities by communicating all relevant information in supervisors’ log book. - Audits defect logs regularly to monitor scrap and productivity. Takes corrective action as necessary. - Oversees shift/production requirements by periodically monitoring employees’ performance and their adherence to established procedures. - Engages in space planning and allocation to meet operational needs. - Maintains safe, productive work environment by adhering to all company safety guidelines, OSHA plant requirements and workers compensation emergency treatment procedures. - Actively participates in continuous improvement initiatives. Promotes employee empowerment by encouraging and involving in all aspects of shift operations. Performs activities of those supervised, as time and production schedules require. - Demonstrates acquired knowledge of molding operations to improve/refine processing skills. - Demonstrates progressive human relations’ skills in all aspect of training, motivating and guidance. Performs employee evaluations and serves as a positive role model to all. - Contributes to team effort by participating in and performing variety of tasks as may be assigned to meet product quality objectives and to maximize machine and people productivity.
