SUMMARY

Applies principles of accounting to analyze and prepare financial reports and perform general accounting duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Coordinate and control all phases of the two physical inventory counts done each year at our various warehouse and third party refurbishing locations as part of our August & February month-end closings.

  • Assist with inventory selections for test counts.
  • Perform test count at one of the warehouse sites.
  • Verify the results with the warehouse managers.
  • Insure that the auditors also agree with the final counts.

Assist in the review of our semi-annual devaluation process performed at September 30th and March 31st.

Perform manual cost changes that may be required on a monthly basis.

Assist in the disposal of obsolete inventory.

  • Create listing of disposal candidates for review by Planners druing this process.
  • Review all disposal requests for accuracy.
  • Prepare summary, by warehouse, for the disposal process.

Prepare monthly management reports for distribution.

  • Gross Profit
  • Corporate Inventory
  • Inventory by Stock Type
  • Corporate & Divisional Reserves
  • Reserve Detail
  • Consignment Analysis
  • Scrap
  • Other (Inter-co Purchases & Branch Plant Master List - Update)

Prepare monthly account analysis/reconciliation of various inventory related accounts.

  • Merchandise Payable
  • Inventory sub-ledger to General Ledger
  • Inventory Reserves
  • Consignment (Office Max, SkyMall, Staples & Best Buy)
  • Cost of Goods Sold (research any unexplained variances)
  • Inventory Import Claims
  • Intransit Inventory (Import & Domestic)
  • Warehouse 50019

Prepare various Journal Entries for month-end closing.

Approve Item Conversions.

Analysis and processing of inventory adjustments.

  • Casio warehouse adjustments
  • Consignment adjustments
  • Miscellaneous adjustments as required

Completes various Accounting projects as assigned by members of management, including audit requests.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university and up to four years related experience; or advanced degree and up to two years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define and solve practical problems, collect data, establish facts, and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardizations exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Computer literacy in a windows environment.
