FINANCIAL REPORTING SPECIALIST
Location: Roanoke, VA
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent computer skills. Microsoft Office required with Peoplesoft and AS-400 query preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical and professional journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Exceptional written and oral communication and analytical skills required.
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university and two to three years related experience and/or training
- SEC reporting experience highly recommended.
- Certified Public Accountant certificate or license required.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in overseeing the Company’s internal control structure and evaluation including documentation, assessments on internal controls, implementation of new control environments for acquisitions and processes to ensure adherence to the Sarbanes Oxley Act.
- Monitor the evaluation/testing of internal controls, coordinate testing with internal and external auditors and ensure any controls deficiencies identified are remediated in timely manner to ensure compliance with the Sarbanes Oxley Act
- Assist in documentation of higher level controls to further streamline testing of controls.
- Responsible for ensuring that Sarbanes Oxley documentation (narratives, tests plans, exception logs etc.) stays current and reflects changes to significant processes
- Ensure Finance meets testing deadlines and communicate results to management.
- Assist in on-going training of team members on Finance management responsibilities for SOX as well as assist in making internal control policy and procedures recommendations in order to implement retail best practices.
- Monitor regulatory environment to ensure the organization is proactively addressing new accounting and reporting pronouncements as well as facilitate training and support of new accounting and reporting pronouncements.
- Assist in the maintenance of the Financial Reporting department process narratives and control matrices as required by Sarbanes-Oxley.
- Responsible for the day-to-day accounting for share based compensation, including the valuation of new long-term incentive awards, amortization of expense and completion of related account reviews.
- Responsible for the calculation of diluted share count and other share based compensation reporting, including footnote disclosures, proxy reporting, etc.
- Serve as primary liaison between Compensation, Legal and other Finance department on share based compensation matters and assist in the maintenance of process narratives and control matrices.
- Oversee implementation of outsourced accounting solution for share based compensation and continue to monitor 3rd party relationship and ensure deliverables meet accounting and disclosure requirements.
- Participate in planning for IFRS implementation as developments occur.
- Other financial reporting tasks or analysis as assigned. Such tasks may include technical research, period close activities, quarterly board reporting, assistance in preparation of SEC filings and other review/documentation.
- Communicate the departmental policies and procedures that affect management of other departments and the Company.
- Ensure all departmental reports are generated and delivered in an accurate and timely manner.
