Job Summary

RN, CNII - Coronary Care Unit

Requires graduation from a state-accredited school of professional nursing and one year of nursing experience. Must be licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of North Carolina by the NC Board of Nursing.

The University of North Carolina Heart Center features comprehensive care delivered by a multidisciplinary team. Our goal is to provide the very best outcomes for our patients and the fullest support for their families. We maintain a high level of nursing expertise across all areas of the Heart Center – from outpatient clinics and diagnostic facilities to operating rooms and inpatient units. At the Heart Center , you will encounter a variety of learning experiences bound to challenge seasoned nurses and new graduates alike.

Coronary Care Unit

The Coronary Care Unit (CCU) is a 13-bed critical care unit specializing in the management of patients with a variety of cardiac conditions. These include myocardial infarction, acute decompensated heart failure/cardiomyopathy, pre- and post-cardiac transplant, cardiogenic shock, unstable dysrhythmias and multisystem organ failure. CCU nurses are precepted to successfully manage intubated and nonintubated patients with multiple vasoactive drips, pulmonary artery catheters, intra-aortic balloon pumps, transcutaneous and transvenous pacemakers and continuous renal replacement therapy. The nursing staff in this unit are part of the hospitalwide code response team.
