Job Description:
- Responsible for performing configuration and operation, troubleshooting, fault isolation, maintenance actions necessary to repair, restoration systems, performance testing and associated logistics actions in support of the Defense Satellite Communications System (DSCS) and MILSTAR equipment systems.
- Perform procedures and processes used in operations, maintenance and logistics actions.
- Provide monitoring, configuration and operation of the MILSTAR Terminal.
- Provide network services, maintain and control MILSTAR network.
- Coordinates with interfacing agencies, and perform system operator’s maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Operate encryption equipment and prepare reports and other documentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the SATCOM Shop Lead.
- This is a first shift position.
Qualifications:
- Successful candidates should have an Associates Degree and 2 years relevant professional experience (6 years with a High School Diploma); or commensurate education and experience.
- Technicians will be qualified to perform operations and maintenance of MILSATCOM communications-electronics equipment.
- Experience should focus on MILSTAR and satellite communications equipment, operations, troubleshooting to card and component knowledge, and customer service for the Department of Defense.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Specific experience on the AN/GSC-52 SAM-T, AN/USC-28, and MILSTAR systems is highly desirable.
- Understanding of Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) USSTRATCOM, and the Air Force Satellite Control Network (AFSCN) mission procedures is desirable.
- Experience with Air Force communications systems and the 50th Space Wing is desirable.
- Good communication skills are mandatory, as well as the ability to work harmoniously in a team environment with government customers and other contractors.
This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Secret security clearance. In order to obtain a clearance you need to be a U.S. Citizen and show proof of citizenship.
