High school diploma or equivalent, medical secretarial and medical terminology education equal to two years of training and 2 years in an acute care facility with experience transcribing discharge summaries, history and physical exams, operative reports, consultation reports, cardiac catheterization and radiology reports.

Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT) a plus.

Extensive knowledge of AAMT guidelines, excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to understand diverse accents and dialects and varying dictation styles. Ability to use designated reference materials.

Experience with DVI dictation system or similar system, ability to work under pressure with time constraints and extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, clinical medicine, surgery, diagnostic tests, radiology, pathology, pharmacology and various medical specialities required. Job Summary: Medical language specialist who interprets and transcribes dictation by physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding patient assessment, work-up, therapeutic procedures, clinical course, diagnosis, prognosis, etc., in order to document patient care and facilitate delivery of health care services.
