Reimbursement Specialist Sr: VCU Health System

Facilitate VCUHS compliance with federal, state, and payer specific billing requirements through (1) performance of regulatory requirements research, (2) recommendations of billing processes and systems that support regulations or contracts, and (3) performance of audits that ensure compliance with billing requirements. Modify service master table values (CPT4s, HCPCS, UBCs) to support billing requirements. Specialty area of supplies, implants, and pharmaceuticals for hospital technical billing. This position ensures that coding, charges, and required documentation is in effect so proper billing can occur. Consistent and frequent interaction with OR, Cardiology, Ortho, Materials etc. needs to occur. Position also needs to take the failed billings, determine root cause and institute a work process to prevent.

The level and type of experience REQUIRED: Experience in creating training programs and conducting training classes. Minimum of 5 years experience in patient billing. Minimum 2 years coding medical records

Education/training REQUIRED:

College degree or commensurate experience may substitute.

Certified medical diagnosis/procedure coding required
