Service provider experienced senior network or technical support engineer

Position: Network Staff Engineer (ProACT) - Major Accounts

Job Description:
This position will support key America's Service Providers customers who use Juniper's M/T/J/MX products for different applications. The Proact Engineer provides forward-looking services to optimize network performance for designated J-Assure customers. The Proact Engineer evaluates the customer's network for performance, scalability, and security and provides recommendations to network configurations and topologies to improve operational performance. The Proact Engineer understands the customer's current network architecture and long term direction. Additionally the Proact Engineer is involved in shorter-term projects including introduction of new features, software or hardware in the customer's network. The goal is to identify and mitigate major risk areas to improve the operational implementation and reliability of the customer's use of Juniper's products. Proact Engineer documents and maintains information on the customer's network solutions and educates internal Juniper resources.

Job Requirements:
Requires expertise in the following protocols in large scale implementations: OSPF, BGP, IS-IS, MPLS, Multicast, QoS, Switching, and Network Security. Juniper product certifications (JNCIP/JNCIE) or equivalent strongly desired. Must have a passion for the Internet and the new technologies related to it. Must have strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills and have demonstrated a history of high-level achievement in cross-functional organizations. This position requires a minimum of 7 years of experience in supporting large, complex, IP-based networks.

Expertise in several of the following areas is also preferred: Multicast, VOIP, Antivirus, Network Management, WAN/LAN accleration, Radius, SSL VPN, Switching, WAN technologies, Firewall, IDP/IDS. Juniper product certifications or equivalent strongly desired. Must have a passion for the Internet and the new technologies related to it. Must have an understanding of network designs as it relates to Enterprise and understands how to measure network and product performance. Must have strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills and have demonstrated a history of high-level achievement in cross-functional organizations. This position requires a minimum of 7 years of experience in supporting large, complex, IP-based networks.

Travel: Periodic travel will be required.

Specific Job functions:
* Review customer network design and make configuration/topology recommendation(s) to optimize operational performance
* Work closely with sales engineering and development engineering on key feature development and successful introduction in customer environment
* Document and maintain customer network solutions knowledge and educate other internal Juniper resources for better support experience
* Review customer network plans and assist in new feature implementation and product deployment planning
* Follow-up on any HW or SW performance trends identified by the Service Manager to develop resolutions.
* Inform customer of major risks in current and target SW releases to help customer to make educated decision regarding SW.
* Review HW and SW EOL notices and ProACTively notify customer of PSNs
* Conduct Juniper product health checks and product trending in order to identify potential product performance problem areas.
* Advise and consult with customers when questions or concerns related to health, risk, planning and optimization of Juniper products in their network.
