Responsibilities
|
 |
In recognition of the severity of online
crime today and the importance of our role in keeping consumer’s safe
from cyber threats, we are seeking an online crime expert for
Symantec’s consumer brand, Norton. The primary objective of this role
is to make Norton the most compelling, visible consumer brand for not
only protecting consumers online, but also defending their digital
rights by helping to raise awareness of cyber threats as well as bring
the criminals behind them to justice. The role is ideal for an
individual who is a self-starter—the role’s initial responsibilities
are defined below but should ultimately be driven by the shifting needs
of the organization and the person’s ingenuity.
Major Responsibilities
• Conduct original security research using both internal and
external sources, resulting in public-facing articles, media outreach
and ultimately strong coverage of online crime topics for the Norton
brand
• Serve as a key spokesperson for Norton on security topics,
especially online crime (i.e., through media briefings, conferences,
industry events, etc.)
• Liaise with internal organizations such as Security Technology
And Response (STAR) as well as the SMB/Enterprise teams to best
leverage and share security expertise across all of Symantec • Lead projects to overhaul important threat communication
vehicles for Norton, including the Internet Threat Meter, the threat
write-ups (web-based threat descriptions linked from the products),
threat submission & crime reporting capabilities, as well as other
aspects of our offerings that have yet to be identified.
• Create and manage a online law enforcement liaison program,
establishing strong, meaningful ties to worldwide law enforcement that
both help bring online criminals to justice and clearly demonstrate
Norton’s commitment to combating global cybercrime
• Assist with government relations efforts to create and influence
online crime related policy; working with existing programs and
potentially conceiving new ones as needed • Produce articles, blogs, video and other media (e.g., for the
Norton website, product, etc.) for covering important threat trends and
breaking events that affect consumers online
• Create and maintain an online crime and threat landscape
briefing to keep internal teams abreast of the latest changes and to
present to partners and media
