POSITION
Network Engineer

Job Description:
Our client is looking for a Network Engineer for a Project Core Upgrade with our client. Responsibilities and duties are as follows: - Implement, operate, and monitor network equipment, network usage, and systems availability
- Provide input and support for troubleshooting of Layer 2 LAN technologies including but not limited to Ethernet (Switched, FastE, and GigE), Spanning-Tree, VLANs, VTP, and trunking (802.1q and ISL)
- Provide input and support for troubleshooting of Ethernet Switches, Routers, and Firewalls
- Perform IOS and other operating system upgrades including research, plan, design, and implementation
- Work closely with other members of the IT Department to ensure that network issues and project milestones are met in a timely manner
- Perform preventative maintenance and testing on all network equipment
- Update and maintain network diagrams
As the successful applicant, you will possess the following requirements: - Thorough understanding of IP concepts, technologies, and addressing including CIDR and VLSM
- Experience with cable plant management for voice, data and service provider connectivity
- Good analytical skills and experience with forward/reverse chaining troubleshooting techniques
- Reliable self-starter with the ability to follow instructions when needed and complete tasks in a timely fashion
- CCNP/CCDP or equivalent experience is preferred
- In-depth knowledge and experience of the following: Ethernet, Ethernet Switching, IP, IP assignment, IP routing such as BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP
