Unix Systems Engineer - Salt Lake City, UT
Position Description:
The System Engineer will review, analyze, and modify infrastructute systems including testing, debugging and installing for a large-scale computer system. Evaluates system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility. This function provides expertise in software systems programming, operating software applications, consults on complex projects/existing applications, and overall operating systems.
- Develop pioneering approaches to emerging industry trends
- Provide expertise in planning, designing, installing, configuring, repairing, recovering, system monitoring, and performance tuning of network systems, UNIX, Linux, WIntel and AIX Operating Systems and hardware
- Provide support to plan, coordinate, and implement the organization's information security
- Engineering design and consulting for LAN and WAN network systems including internal and external commercial data centers
- Coordinate and assist in the operations and maintenance of LAN and WAN systems
- Establish and modify drawings for configuration management of LAN and WAN systems
- Assist in the procurement of new network systems and in the procurement of LAN and WAN network systems maintenance services
- Primary duties include assisting with support of data center operations as needed such as hardware installations, remote server support, tape backups, on-call rotation
- Duties shall also include planning, implementation, and execution of strategic projects; these projects may involve operating system or application migration, IT planning, or rollout of mission critical applications

- 5+ years Unix and/or Linux Operating System Experience
- 5+ years Sun Server Technology
- 4+ years Storage Support experience (SAN and NAS)
- 3+ years Wintel operating systems experience
- 2+ years Data Center Operation Experience
Assets:
- Unix certification
- Microsoft certification
- Experience supporting environments with 1000+ servers is a plus
