POSITION
Provide professional nursing care to inmate patients in a Sheriff's custody facility. Nursing practice at this level demonstrates the application of basic assessment skills and adherence to patient privacy, confidentiality, and security guidelines.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Provides nursing care and administers medications and treatments to patients as prescribed; observes patient's response to interventions and treatments and monitors for side effects of medication administration.
• Applies basic knowledge and technical skills in the delivery of patient care. Implements plan of care and makes recommendations based on assessments and reassessments.
• Reviews patient records
• Planning: Developing a plan of care based on assessment process.
• Coordinates patient care and collaborates with other health care team members to establish the patients' goals, to develop treatment
plans, and to obtain desired outcomes.
• Implementation: Interventions that a nurse performs for a patient including treatments, procedures, medication administration, education, referrals and discharge planning.
• Performs efficiently in emergency situations.
• Provides patient/family education based on identified learning needs utilizing available teaching resources.
• Communicates identified needs to members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Recognizes safety hazards in the patient care environment and initiates timely and appropriate intervention.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• A license to practice as a Registered Nurse issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing.*
