RN - Open Heart Surgery (FT, Days): Clear Lake Regional Medical Center

Experience:
1. Two years scrubbing and/or circulating experience in an O.R. setting
2. Previous CVOR experience preferred.

Education:
1. Graduate of accredited school of nursing
2. Educational requirements appropriate for meeting age-specific needs of patients assigned to the Operating Room.
a. Knowledge of emotional needs of special care patients.
b. Knowledge of the aging process and emotional needs of geriatric patients and their families.
c. Knowledge of the potential for increased adverse response to blood loss and need for body fluid replacement in geriatric patients.
d. Knowledge for the potential for impairment of skin integrity in geriatric patients and the need for appropriate support and padding devices.
e. Knowledge of hazards of decreased mobility of joints in geriatric patients.
f. Knowledge of the potential for impaired communication skills in geriatric patients.
g. Knowledge and use of appropriate measures for the geriatric patient in
controlling environmental conditions, i.e., warming room temperature, use of warming and
cooling blankets, warm fluids, restraints, and support for limbs.

Special Qualifications
1. Current Texas licensure with State Board of Nurse Examiners
2. Current CPR certification
3. Demonstrated current clinical competence, as outlined in the appropriate orientation checklist.
4. Maintains current clinical competence
a. Annual Skills Checklist
5. Demonstrated knowledge of surgical aseptic technique.
6. Knowledge of AORN Standards and Practices
7. ACLS certification preferred
