Job Description:


Description: The scope of this role includes installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Red Hat Enterprise Linux in scientific environment. The ideal candidate is experienced in related technical skill areas including TCP/IP networking, scripting, system backup/restore, software package deployment, and automated system monitoring. This position requires a high degree of teamwork. They will need to be an energetic, self motivated individual who enjoys working in a collaborative team environment. Candidate should be fully versed in Linux flavors.

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Analyze user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or to improve existing systems.
• Engineer automated systems to ensure stability and security of the environment.
• Understanding the current cluster infrastructure including file system and storage area networks.
• Understanding the business and technical drivers for the current infrastructure and issues.

Required Skills
Technical Skills:

• Must Have - RedHat Linux (RedHat Certified Engineer - RHCT), TCP/IP, Apache, compiler experience, basic network trouble shooting;
• Must have or be able to obtain an active DOD security clearance;
• In-depth knowledge of Intel-based server hardware;
• Must possess a strong ability to document standards, methods, and produce drawings of environment.

Desired Skills
Technical Skills:

• Nagios, MySQL, Perl, Tomcat, Subversion, clustering, Netbackup.*hj

Education
Requires a Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent.

Experience
8+ years of related experience
