We are currently seeking an Network Engineer at our Operations Center in Bethlehem, PA.

Synchronoss Technologies is seeking to hire a Network Engineer with several years of experience working for a large ecommerce environment. Synchronoss has dual locations in central NJ and also eastern Pennsylvania; there is a possibility of working from either. The candidate should have an expert understanding of routing protocols and layer-2 protocols. The Network Engineer will be responsible for contributing to the overall design, architecture and reliability of the network infrastructure. This will include providing technical guidance and enforcing technical standards. The scope of this job includes maintaining production environments (MACDs, reporting network performance, network configurations for application deployments and troubleshooting/problem resolution), monitoring of network resources, maintaining the 24x7 operations and providing support to development and other teams of the organization during major projects. Ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of networking and a strong understanding of Unix/Linux.

The Network Engineer will provide exceptionally responsive support, requiring occasional after hours and weekend availability for on-call support of priority systems, applications, and periodic maintenance activities. This person would also ensure systems are compatible and in compliance with company standards and compliance initiatives. The Network Engineer will provide detailed and timely project status updates to management and internal customers by utilizing departmental standards and procedures. A focus on providing world class customer service is essential. Lastly they would be involved with managing delegated relationships with external contacts and having frequent and direct contract with the most senior level managers and executives to provide consulting and technical expertise.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical field OR equivalent combination of education/certification(s) and experience.
Minimum of 5 years experience with Routing/Switching platforms (Cisco Systems) and 7-10 years total experience in IT
Extensive knowledge and experience of Core Routing and Switching design, configuration, and troubleshooting, and usage of Cisco Best Practices
3-5 years of UNIX/Linux Administration experience is strongly preferred
3-5 years experience working in a large service provider environment preferred
Experience working in a 24x7 production environment supporting e-commerce applications
Experience in on-call environments
Must be able to work late nights and some weekends
Experience with high volume, large B2B or B2C e-commerce environments
Strong communication skills to write documentation for design and architecture documents.
Ability to work in groups as a team player
Ability to help others in a fast paced and perpetually changing systems environment
Ability to work on multiple simultaneous tasks in parallel and prioritize between them
Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills, ability to be highly productive in a fast-paced environment, and to work independently.
This position typically requires 10% travel

Desired Skills:

Nexus 7k, 5k and 2k configuration and design a plus!
Experience with Cisco – 35XX, 38XX, 45XX, 72XX, ASR, ASA, ACE, WAF, WAZ
Transport protocols (Ethernet, MPLS, SONET, CWDM/DWDM)
Routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, IS-IS, RIP, etc)
Network protocols (MPLS, 802.1Q, IPv4/v6, Netflow, etc)
WAN connectivity such as T1/T3, OC3, OC12, Frame-relay, ATM
NAT,ACL configuration, Spanning-tree, VTP, Port Channels, SPAN, Multicast PIM Sparse/Dense, MSDP
Multi-VRF and VRF-Lite, MPBGP-VPNv4
Hands on experience with load balancing platforms and principles (Cisco, Citrix, Netscaler)
Hands on experience with firewall platforms (Cisco, Checkpoint, Juniper)
MPLS traffic engineering design, configuration, and troubleshooting
Cisco ACS for network authentication, Authorization, and Accounting
Cisco NAC integration with data and wireless infrastructure
Network IPS appliances, Cisco MARS integration with IPS, firewalls, routers across campus network, tuning of alerts
Quality of Service understanding and configuration, able to customize across all Cisco platforms to support Voice, Video, and selected applications
Excellent understanding of VPN - site to site, client, IPSEC (including the protocol suite), IKE, tunnel modes, SSL clientless/ Anyconnect, Tunnels between ASAs
Extensive knowledge and experience of Network Security, including the design, configuration, and tuning of Cisco security appliances modules
Strong background in wireless communication, Wireless surveys, design, configuration, site assessment and audit
Configuring Lightweight and Autonomous APs, WLAN Controllers, WCS
Working knowledge of relational database products and configuration/tuning, experience with Oracle preferred
Must be able to write jobs, using various scripting languages, i.e. Java Script, Perl, PHP, etc.
Microsoft Office applications is strongly desired: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio
Certifications are a plus – but not a requirement
