EDUCATION: Bachelors Degree in recreation therapy, therapeutic recreation, recreation administration or an equivalent program.

EXPERIENCE: 1 year as Recreation Therapist

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Licensure as a Recreational Therapist by the Consortium for Therapeutic Recreation/Activity Certification.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Mus have eye/hand/foot coordination, finger/fine dexterity and be able to handle/grip/squeeze. Must be capable of transferring-vertical/horizontal, lifting/carrying greater than 35 pounds with assistance and be able to push/pull, balance, stoop/bend, kneel, walk, sit, crouch/squat, stand, hold, flex/poistion/twist and reach.

SUMMARY: Performs responsible professional work in the evaluation, planning and implementation of Therapeutic Recreation programs to increase, maintain or restore functions, maximize or prevent disability and assist patients in reaching their maximum performance levels in the areas of leisure education, adaptive recreation, and recreational activities. Works within a team in the delivery of care and participates in educational experiences for students.
