We currently have an opportunity for an Assistant Director of Emergency whose primary role as a patient advocate will be to assume responsibility for assisting in the coordination and direction of quality patient-centered care and for assuring that all patient needs including physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional are met. In collaboration with the nursing director, the Assistant Director will assist with the management activities for a patient care unit or units. Additional responsibilities will include:
· Promoting patient/family focused care as the highest priority
· Assuring the productive performance of assigned employees by fairly enforcing hospital policies
· Screening, interviewing, orienting and developing staff on the unit
· Counseling employees and recommending discipline and termination
· Functioning in a problem solving role
· Maintaining adequate staffing to meet patient needs
· Ensuring work flows smoothly on assigned shift in consideration of budget constraints
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree preferred
· Basic Life Support Certification
· Three to four years management experience in an Emergency Room
· Emergency Nursing Certification or obtained within one year of hire
