The Unit Clerk contributes to the patient care function by performing
clerical duties and other administrative support functions. Works
collaboratively with hospital staff and other personnel in facilitating
quality patient care. Participates in performance improvement
activities to improve patient safety and quality of care. Maintains
cultural and diversity awareness when dealing with patients, visitors,
co-workers and other customers. Promotes a supportive, team-work
oriented environment. Fulfills departmental responsibilities
consistent with the long-range plan, mission, vision and values of
Bayshore Medical Center.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
A. Licensure/ Certification/ Registration: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
B. Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
C. Experience: Six months of clerical and computer experience preferred. Prior
experience in healthcare preferred
D. Special Qualifications: Successful completion of hospital and unit specific orientation.
Effective oral and written communication skills. Proficiency with
computer applications. Ability to work well with others in a team
environment to ensure quality patient care. Strong problem solving
and customer service skills. Able to read, write, speak and
comprehend English. Will be required to work weekdays, weekends
and holidays. Due to changes in patient census, may be required to
leave early, rotate days off or help other departments.
