About Us Advocate the proper use of medicine, advice medication therapies and monitor medication regimens while working among the top Southern California health care professional at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center and Miller Children's Hospital located in Los Angeles County . Counsel patients and health care professionals regarding prescription side effects and reactions, and provide recommendations for over-the-counter medications. Share your expertise with the local community on the latest directions and treatments for tobacco cessation, asthma, diabetes management and additional topics in group forums. Discover rewarding opportunities as a Pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician in a variety of outpatient pharmacy, inpatient pharmacy and administration settings at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center . About the Opportunity The Pharmacy Technician works in many areas of the pharmacy to supplement technician staffing in the department. As such he/she must competently perform the functions of technicians working in both the retail and home infusion areas of the department. Must possess a valid Pharmacy Technician Certificate issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy. Must have the ability to stand for up to 8 hours a day, type at least 30 WPM, communicate effectively with patients and health care workers, and lift up to 25 lbs. At least 6 months of experience as a home infusion or hospital pharmacy technician or related experience is required. At least 6 months experience compounding infusion products is required. Must be able to demonstrate sterile techniques and verbalize ASHP sterile compounding guidelines. At least 6 months experience in a retail pharmacy or hospital outpatient pharmacy that utilizes a computer system for processing prescriptions is required. Must have passed the designated competency examination.
