Fairview Southdale Hospital , in Edina , Minnesota , is seeking a take-charge professional to provide leadership and management for the operations, clinical performance, and financial performance of the Emergency department and service line.

  • This leader contributes to and executes the vision for promoting clinical excellence and program growth in a highly competitive marketplace.
  • Ensures that high quality services are provided within professional regulatory and accrediting body standards, and that overall clinical performance of the service line meets or exceeds national best practice benchmarks.
  • Ensures operations function at top levels of efficiency, and exceed customer expectations.
  • Accountable for viable financial performance of the service line.
  • Develops and administers policies and procedures, operating and capital budgets.

Position Characteristics:

  • Excellent business acumen and experience related to specialty service line leadership (contracting, marketing, third party payor issues and trends, financial modeling).
    Strong critical thinking skills - understands the important detail and sees the big picture.
  • Superb skills with data collection and analysis.
  • Demonstrates a strong propensity for action & results.
  • Consistently applies performance improvement skills and principles to manage large, complex operations.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing operational and capital budgets.
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Champions teamwork across departments and throughout the Fairview organization to achieve results.
  • Excels at physician and employee relations.
  • Pays careful attention to employee, physician, and customer satisfaction.
  • Proven track record of developing strong teams and promoting professional growth of direct reports.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education: Master’s degree in business administration (MBA), health care administration (MHA), MPH or MSN.

Preferred Education: In addition to the Master Degree, would prefer Bachelor’s degree in a clinical field.

Minimum Experience: 3-5 years experience managing clinical operations.

Preferred Experience: 5-10 years experience managing comprehensive specialty service lines in an acute-care, hospital setting. 5-10 years Emergency Department operations management and work experience.
