
Responsibilities/Description: Position Scope: The Commodity Specialist will provide strategic leadership for assigned transportation and logistics-related sub-commodities on a global basis. This role will lead individual sub-commodity teams in the development and execution of global commodity business plans aimed at achieving targeted improvements in cost savings, on-time delivery, quality, and lead times. This position could potentially be located in one of the D-R locations near the Southern Tier of NY. Locations: Olean, NY; Wellsville, NY; Painted Post, NY.
Qualifications: Required: Legal authorization to work in the US for any US employer. A minimum of a Bachelor's degree. A minimum of 5 years of related transportation management experience. Strong experience with MS Word, Excel & Power Point. Knowledge of Supply Chain Management, including: carrier/market rationalization, sourcing, purchasing, carrier development, carrier quality, scorecarding, continuous improvement, transportation-related contract management and negotiating of terms and conditions. The willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time in order to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
Preferred: Bilingual (Spanish) An MBA degree. Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies. Possession of a CPM certification in good standing through NAPM/ISM. International shipping experience. Experience in transportation modes of small package, Less Than Truckload (LTL), Truckload (TL), Air, and Ocean. Experience in managing freight forwarders and customs brokers. Experience with third party freight audit and payment providers. Knowledge of transportation management systems. Experience with third-party logistics providers.
Job Specific Responsibilities/Qualifications: Work with internal organizational management to develop long-term strategies. Facilitate the execution of long-term strategies through an integrated supply chain. Perform data and market analysis. Source and develop suppliers for assigned commodity areas. Assume annual global purchase responsibility of $10M to $45M. Develop an understanding of individual commodities very quickly and assist in the development of complex strategies. Provide direction and participate in facilitation and change management. Manage long-term projects to completion.
