At the direction of the designated senior executive, assists the DCHS Information Technology team in planning, design, implementation and on-going support of clinical information systems, meeting objectives as required. The Clinical Informatics Director is responsible to provide expertise and support in the development and implementation of clinical applications. Ensures that the new technology is used appropriately, established technical and quality standards are followed, solutions are cost effective and the information needs of clinicians are met. Provides training for clinical staff for existing and new applications. Coordinates special system projects in support of DCHS and/or St. Francis Medical Center strategic initiative goals. The Clinical Informatics Director serves as a professional leader and resource for professional staff. Acts as a role model in the support of the DCHS Mission, Vision and Values in leadership behaviors, practices, and decisions. Maintains professional standards of conduct and ethics as outlines in department expectations and professional organizations. Supports and adheres to all DCHS and St. Francis Medical Center policies and standards.
Education/Training/Experience:
Required: At least five (5) years clinical preferred experience. BSN, PharmD., or RCP preferred. Demonstrates initiative, integrity and possesses sense of values and ethical standards. Possesses knowledge and experience with Clinical Information System implementation and builds, automated data systems, personal computing skills, hospital information system database analysis and display. Strong computer and organizational skills. Knowledge of clinical orientation support and quality improvement. Preferred: Formal change management training and experience. Advanced degree or certification in informatics. Experience or formal training in adult education.
