Application Development Manager (MB)
Job Description:
Role:
The Application Development Manager will lead a team responsible for the application development of software. The Application Development Manager is empowered to establish and implement standards and practices to ensure the highest degree of software quality. They work with application development management and staff to ensure adequate, proactive involvement of application development staff with software development teams. The Application Development Manager works to deliver project results and value to the business and its clients. The Application Development Manager demonstrates knowledge of all phases of software development life cycle and various techniques for creating a high value quality assurance team. Reports to a Director and typically has between 5 and 10 years of management experience, including project and people management.
Responsibilities:
Ensure project teams are staffed with appropriate resources at the time of inception.
Ensure the Application Development staff is engaged throughout software development lifecycle.
Evaluate developer performance on a quarterly basis and recommend training where required.
Work with technical leads and architecture team to ensure application designs conform to accepted standards.
Expected to independently negotiate dependencies and priorities with the numerous stakeholders. Experience:
Requirements:
4 year degree in Computer Science or related field; prefer emphasis in Quality Assurance
Must have Application Development management experience.
Object Oriented experience in Java and/or C++ is preferred.
5+ years leading IT organizations in a fast-paced application development environment.
Experience managing teams of 5+ staff
Demonstrated use and knowledge of various quality programs/standards (TQM, ISO, etc.)
Experience in the brokerage industry/financial background experience is a plus.
Up to 10% travel
