On February 13, 2008, the New York Racing Association, which had owned and operated Aqueduct Racetrack, Belmont Park and Saratoga Race Course since 1955, was awarded a 25-year franchise to run Thoroughbred racing at New York's three major tracks: In 2007, 11 Breeders' Cup winners raced and/or trained at Aqueduct, Belmont Park and Saratoga. In 2008, defending Horse of the Year Curlin was based at Belmont Park and Saratoga during a campaign that eventually made him North American racing's all-time leading money earner and the first American horse to reach $10 million in career earnings.
At Aqueduct in South Ozone Park, Queens, the construction of a casino with 4,500 Video Lottery Terminals (such as video poker, video slot machines, etc.) is expected to be completed by 2010.
ASSISTANT TO FOOD & BEVERAGE COORDINATOR
Position Summary:
The Assistant F&B Coordinator will be responsible for professionally meeting and greeting guests in the dining rooms and acknowledging reservations. In addition, this role will involve overseeing multiple dining areas, food service and restaurant staff.
Position Responsibilities:
- Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of NYRA restaurants and dining areas.
- Arrange seating presentation accordingly. Take reservations.
- Ensure that each customer receives proper greeting and acknowledgement.
- Oversee wait staff and food service.
- Make sure that food is properly and timely served.
- Respond to comfort level and interact with guests.
- Handle customer complaints.
- Keep kitchen inventory current.
- Menu planning and pricing projects as necessary.
- Train, supervise, and manage a staff of up to ten hosts / runners.
- Implement new F&B internship program. Communicate with appropriate institutions to develop partnerships.
- Liaise with the Director, Sales Development to assist in event / party planning. Coordinate with all appropriate departments for successful execution of events (Facilities, Communications, Track Photographer, Parking and Admission, etc.).
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- 3+ years of Restaurant Management
- Ability to work in a fast paced-multi venue environment
- Strong customer service and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills
