Director of Marketing

A prestigious law firm based in Washington, DC is seeking a Patent Prosecution Legal Secretary to perform secretarial duties as requested by assigned attorneys and legal assistants. Responsibilities include the following: type legal documents and correspondence, draft short letters and memoranda and proofread documents for spelling, content, punctuation and grammar; assist with trial preparation; ensure accurate indexing and filing of original patent prosecution documents; and other duties as assigned. Qualifications include 5-7 years legal secretarial experience, ability to type 70 wpm and prior experience in the Patent Prosecution/Intellectual Property and Litigation practice areas of law is preferred. Candidates should have excellent interpersonal skills. Have knowledge and understanding of U.S. Patent and Trademark Office rules and regulations and be proficient in preparing patent prosecution documents. Candidates should also be familiar with the filing procedures for all aspects of patent prosecution, and foreign and international (PCT) prosecution a plus. Candidates should be knowledgeable of legal terminology and the filing procedures of courts and government agencies. Knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Lotus Notes is required.
