Small Business Broker Account Executive - Duluth, MN
Position Description:
The primary duty of the Broker Account Executive 9BAE) is to promote health care sales & market UHC products through a defined list of agents & brokers. The BAE focuses on the small business market segment, those customers employing up to 99 employees.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Identify potential health care business customers
  • Develop business relationships with agents/brokers in order to increase sales
  • Independently decide which brokers to focus on & which products to recommend
  • Promote sales of health care products to small business customers, through brokers.
  • Educating & keep brokers up to date on UHC products & pricing
  • Evaluating & discussing how UHC products meet the needs of the brokers
  • Independently developing and delivering recommendations to brokers on which products to market against competing products
  • Assisting brokers in developing sales proposals, including anticipating competing products & distinguishing UHC's products
  • Achieve agent/brokers sales totaling a minimum of 900 subscribers per calendar year
  • Attain regional & health plan goals related to specific targeted health care products
  • Produce agent/broker sales that result in profitable premium levels for the company.

Qualifications:
  • Business Savvy
  • Easily identifies reasons for problems & can find effective solutions
  • Strong consultative selling skills
  • Decisions impacting the business & customer interactions are made using independent judgment & are normally made without supervision
  • Decisions have an impact on profitability & retention of customer base
  • Knowledge of all products sold in their market segment, including competitive products
  • Applies independent judgment to recommend products for given customer's situation
  • Very strong organizational skills key to balancing multiple priorities, objectives & customer obligations
  • Time management skills critical to success
  • Builds strong relationships with customers & agents/brokers through frequent phone contact & strong product knowledge & advice
  • Maintains strong relationships with existing agents/brokers to promote & sustain sales
  • Influences decisions & business outcomes through relationships & negotiations
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education & experience
  • Two-plus years experience in sales promotion or sales, preferably insurance
  • Ability to understand underwriting, financial & analytical details as necessary
  • Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding sales promotion/marketing skills
  • Ability to work independently to establish & grow relationships in the agent/broker community
  • Establish & grow a relationship with a small business market for the assigned geographic area
  • Sales insurance license must be maintained as required by state law
  • Ability to travel as required.
