EDUCATION AND SKILLS
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• CPC certified in CPT-4, ICD-9 coding or three years equivalent experience
• Medical Terminology required
• Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills
• Typing skill of 40 wpm
• Coding, Medical Charge Entry or Medical Billing Experience required.
• Medical Terminology knowledge required.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Working knowledge of ICD-9, CPT, and HCPCS coding and Correct Coding Initiatives (CCI)
• Will be expected to pass CPC coding certification within 12 months of hire.
• Ability to train and audit new and established providers as skills are mastered.

Benefit:
The Vancouver Clinic covers the cost of the basic medical and dental insurance for the full-time employee. We provide basic term life insurance and long-term disability. We also have a 401K plan with profit sharing. Reduced benefits available for those working 20+ hours per week. On call positions are not benefit eligible.

Description: Reviews documentation to accurately code procedures. Reviews fee tickets and enters charges. Serves as a liaison between Business Services and providers for coding questions. Facilitates accurate coding by providing and promoting provider and staff education.

I. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Code 80% of procedures within 2 working days of receipt of fee ticket and completed medical record.
• Post 95% of clinic charges and corrections within 1 working day of receipt or coding.
• Review fee tickets for completeness and/or work charge entry edits, investigating as necessary to accurately code charges
• Act as resource or liaison to answer coding and charge entry questions
• Provide/support coding education to improve providers’ coding accuracy
• Provide/support coding education for staff as requested
• Attend periodic coding / charge entry meetings and training sessions as requested
• Research coding for proposed new services to assure accurate coding and billing
• Review and audit coding and identify opportunities to improve performance
• Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor
